Choosing gloves for the job: nitrile, rubber, knitted or leather
The wrong gloves leave hands wet, slippery or torn. Before you order, start from the work.
Food, water and oil
Elbow-length rubber gloves with an elastic cuff keep out water and oil, which suits food plants. Nitrile gloves suit people allergic to natural latex; they come in 9" and 12" lengths and several colours, useful for colour-coding areas on a line.
Inspection and medical work
Latex examination gloves come powdered or powder-free, 50 pairs a pack. For electronics and quality inspection, microtech gloves make small parts easy to handle.
Trades, construction and gardening
Cotton and knitted work gloves are chosen by weight, 4 to 7 kheed a dozen: heavier is thicker. For sharp or hot work, leather or denim-and-leather gloves last longer.
